"BIANCA 2029 [2024]" DELIVERS AN EPIC PEEK WITH AN AWESOME TRAILER!

Rachel Wilder as Bianca Wolfe
The Woodlands, Texas - The world of cosplay is getting an open invitation to the world of independent filmmaking. Not that cosplay hasn't been used in short films before, but in BIANCA 2029, the stakes are raised as a clever film featuring Rachel Wilder is starting to boil up the small screen with a few well placed dramatic sequences that leave up to some interesting surprises.

Spawned from the graphic novel of the same name, BIANCA 2029 was filmed and produced with the more than capable talents of multi-award winning independent film producer, director and screenplay writer, D. R. Quintana, who actually created and developed the lead character in 1990. This new film is the culmination of several years of writing and multiple cast changes in the leading role until this passed March.

The feature has already been released in Japan, screened and reviewed by several established film directors, E-Mag subscribers, and indie film producers in the U.S. who were impressed by the films delivery, cinematography, the and visual effects. More over, the leading lady, Rachel Wilder [who plays MSG Bianca Wolfe] in the feature has been given high marks of her presentation as a futuristic paramilitary soldier [and a sexy cosplay role player], who is trapped in a temporal world filled full of nasty bad guys that need to be taken care of in an aggressive and often violent way.

BIANCA 2029 will feature CosPlayers from the local Houston film community throughout the film, playing different roles and presenting their skills at developing and manufacturing their own unique and original outfits. Subscribers of the QSE.357 E-Magazine were given a first look at the movies trailer and their comments are being released on the promotional ads for the trailers world wide release prior to July 4th, 2024.

The studio is planning to have three extended trailers for the film, all to be released for preview before October as a promotional tool for the films full premiere. The entire films production was filmed in Montgomery county, Texas with special access to several landmark areas which will be seen in each new trailer. Each trailer release is being presented in 4K high definition video with 7.2 Surround Sound.

“THE BIKERIDERS” FAILS TO DELIVER AN EPIC FEEL…

🎥🎞️Movie Review🎞️🎥 - THE BIKERIDERS [2024] - PG13 - Directed & Written by Jeff Nichols. Stars Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, and Norman Reedus.

Essentially, this is a movie about a photographer and writer who interviews Kathy Bauer [Comer] long time girlfriend on a biker [Butler] who opens the world up to the beginnings of biker clubs that eventually turn into biker gangs. The setting is the late 1960s on through the 1970s and there’s a lot that Bauer recalls about the first formation of the local biker club called “The Vandals.” Initially, the club was created for dudes who looked cool on bikes and had a place to shoot pool, smoke, drink beer, pick up hot women, and ride. As the Vietnam War came to a close, new bike clubs start to form and things start getting a little more serious as bike clubs start turning into bike gangs. From there, a loss of morality and fun ruins good things as biker punks begin to take over, ending the era of just good old guys riding around and enjoying a simple hobby with good friends.

THE GOOD - There are lots of classic cars and motorcycles that will make any person drool over what is shown in this film. Mostly shot in small towns in Ohio, the transformation of the set locations were pretty impressive. There are a lot of cameos from various actors who seem to be working together from one film to another.

THE BAD - There’s very little dialog that happens throughout the film as Bauer [Comer] is narrating throughout most of the feature. Tom Hardy seems dry in his performance as he tries to stay dramatic and perform somewhere in the realm of a young Marlon Brando. I’m not completely sure that Austin Butler had more than 15 lines in this film, outside of being beat up and maimed throughout most of the film.

POST MORTEM - For being a “biker film” with a PG13 rating, this film failed to show any real biking or any real danger, except a few scenes were the cast was seen driving in a rag tag group on the same patch of road. There’s no romance, no action, NOTHING! The pacing is slow and there’s really no real action in this film to speak of, except a few fights that were too short with nothing really to make note of. The film was presented in a documentary-type format that actually made me nod off from time to time. If it wasn’t for this classic bikes and cars in this film, there wouldn’t be much more to look at or admire. I was somewhat disappointed.

“POOR THINGS [2023]” SHOWS SIGNS OF IMPERFECT FILM NOIR

🎥🎞️Movie Review🎞️🎥 - POOR THINGS [2023] - R - HULU - Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. Written by Tony McNamara. Based on a 1992 novel of the same name by Alasdair Gray. Stars Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, and Jerrod Carmichael.

A pregnant woman (Stone) commits suicide and her body is sold to a mad scientist (Dafoe) who is able to save the body of the woman and the brain of the unborn child. He plants the child’s brain into the woman and reanimates her to life. The new woman matures quickly, learning about impulsive sexuality and losing her direction in life. She seeks adventure with a new lover (Ruffalo) through a myriad escapade of sex and has to join a French bordello, where she sleeps with all kinds of creeps and even a father in front if his children; while two little boys take notes. She did all this not only to survive, but to find a way to get her home, where when shes successful she discovers a dark secret about about her real life and the events that led to her mother committing suicide while she was pregnant.

THE GOOD - This is a quasi-fantasy built around a fictional steam punk era, so the costumes are pretty impressive. There is a dazzling performance by William Dafoe that completely wasn’t expected.

THE BAD - The camera work, cinematography and use of lenses were atrocious. Where the director was obviously trying to bring a mind altering epic film; in the genre of “Edward Scissorhands” quality, this film failed to deliver a solid storyline and keep the pacing in line with the film’s message. Filled with dark humor, color variances from black and white, to sepia to pastels, there was nothing in this film that seemed real or gave the clarification of ingenuity for what the plots story had to share.

POAT MORTEM - This movie is a pedophile/groomers dream. As poorly as the movie poster was designed, this was a horrible film. I’m surprised this film won an Oscar or two over an obvious plotline concerning pedophilia through the altering "what if" scenario that asks, "What if Emma Stone had the mind of child, would you still do her?" There was clear indication for the justification of pedophilia within the film’s storyline. Emma Stone is fully naked throughout this film, which completely eradicates any chance of her being remembered as a classy sex symbol. You should watch this when there’s nothing else to see on a hot Sunday afternoon.

JAPAN HAS A HUGE HIT WITH “GODZILLA MINUS ONE”…

🎥🎞️MOVIE REVIEW🎞️🎥 - GODZILLA MINUS ONE [2024] - PG13 - NETFLIX - Directed and Written by Takashi Yamazaki. Produced by Minami IchikawaKenji Yamada,  Kazuaki KishidaGō Abe, & Keiichirō Moriya. Starring Ryunosuke KamikiMinami HamabeYuki Yamada, Munetaka AokiHidetaka YoshiukaSakura Ando, & Kuranosuki Sasaki. Budget $10-$12 Million.

A WWII Kamakazi Pilot (Yamada) and a plane mechanic are the only two survivors of an attack by a large beast on a remote Japanese controlled island at the end of the war. The beast was immune to small arms attack and somehow the pilot made it out alive. When he returns home, he meets a woman (Kamiki) who has taken in an orphaned child. As the years pass, the large beast returns to Japan and attacks Tokyo Bay, wreaking havoc on the land. Due to the Cold War between the U.S. and Russia, Japan is left alone to deal with the problem. With limited war technology, Japan’s finest pull together to fight back against the beast (now identified as Godzilla) and with the help of one lone fighter plane, piloted by the Kamakazi Pilot, they devise an enormous and intriguing plan to kill Godzilla.

THE GOOD - A well written script and a plot that introduces Godzilla in an epic way. The use of CGI is outstanding, consistent, and the lighting is above what I expected in a foreign film. The acting is punctual and well delivered by a talented cast. The film flows flawlessly with expert editing. I give high kudos to the ADR of American voice actors who were selected to voice the actors performances. The film has a strong start and finish.

THE BAD - There is only one part of the film that failed me, and it occurs during the last act of the film where a line of ships and tug boats arrive to help the volunteer Navy pull Godzilla to his death. Other than that, I saw no real problems with this film.

POST MORTEM - This is an outstanding start to a reboot of the old films, setting things in proper motion for a new league of fans. Japan’s film industry took a large leap forward attempting to bring this film to life; especially with all of the required monster and miniature effects required to bring this epic film to life. I’m a big fan of this production team!

DISNEY+ GIVES JIM HENSON AN EMOTIONAL DOCUMENTARY WITH "IDEA MAN"

🎥🎞️Movie Review🎞️🎥 - JIM HENSON IDEA MAN [2024] - Disney+ - Directed by Ron Howard. With personal notes from Rita Moreno, Frank Oz, Brian Henson, Dave Goelz, Fran Brill, Karen Prell, Jennifer Connelly and others.

Jim Henson was a passionate and dedicated artist who created an imaginary world of muppets that followed him his whole life. When he reached one plateau of success, he’d strive for another; never slowing down, never resting. This movie is a deep look into the man who brought us the humorous Kermit the Frog, the world of muppets, Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and many other puppet movies and shows that created a strong cult following of loyal fans young and old.

THE GOOD - There was a on of never before seen footage of Jim Henson and his early family life. Many of his good, closest friends added their take on Henson’s rise in the entertainment industry. The documentary has the right pacing to keep you interested and the right artistic details to keep you  entertained with several good uses of animated story telling, show the step by step process in his creative footprints of bringing certain characters to life.

THE BAD -  Not that the film was rushed, but the documentary didn’t cover all of Henson’s creative works that touched pop culture, missing out on covering “Emmit Otter’s Jug Band Christmas” which was one of my personal favorites. IMO the movie could have been a little bit longer to cover those other shows that weren’t covered.

POST MORTEM - From life through to his death, Henson loved to entertain his family, friends, and fans. There was a lot humor and heart, tons of moment of deep emotion, including the painful loss of Henson at his death. It’s hard to believe that he is gone, but his work and his ideas continue on with the desire from his family. This was a touching, good documentary. Kudos to Ron Howard!
